Met Dynamics Models Revision History
Met Dynamics Models v2.0.4
- Released 26 September, 2024
- Changes to Met Dynamics Models Microsoft Excel Add-In:
- New magnetic separator functions mdUnit_WLIMS_KingSchneider and mdUnit_WHIMS_DobbyFinch (see below).
- Changes to Met Dynamics Models SysCAD Add-On:
- New Magnetic Separator unit model (see below).
- Changes to Met Dynamics Models engine:
- New Wet Low Intensity Magnetic Separator (WLIMS) model, King and Schneider formulation.
- New Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separator (WHIMS) model, Dobby and Finch formulation.
- Added option for Whiten crusher model to select type of internal mesh series to use. May improve model accuracy when simulating subtle input changes.
- Added option for AG/SAG Mill (Variable Rates) to specify an arbitrary mesh series for ball size intervals below the ball top size.
- AG/SAG Mill (Variable Rates) bugfix, model now only checks largest ore size fraction in feed for , not ore AND ball size fractions.
- Examples:
- New magnetic separator examples added to Excel files.
- New Dynamic Grinding Example project added to SysCAD distributions from Build 139.36389.
Met Dynamics Models v2.0.3
- Released 13 August, 2024
- Changes to Met Dynamics Models Microsoft Excel Add-In:
- Added option to mdMassBal_nProductFormula function to Transpose inputs and results rows/columns. May be useful where assay data is arranged by row instead of column, e.g. particle size distributions.
- Added d50, Ecart Probable and Imperfection partition metrics to Air Classifier (Altun).
- Removed Media density from Stirred Mill (Perfect Mixing) and Stirred Mill (Perfect Mixing, Dynamic) Parameters input array as it is not required by the models. Please check implementations as other parameters below have shifted one position upwards as a consequence of the removal.
- All functions now print help text if Met Dynamics Models is unlicensed and no arguments are provided.
- Changes to Met Dynamics Models SysCAD Add-On:
- MAJOR CHANGE to 'under the hood' project load/save data structures for most unit models. Please check all input values after first project load as many fields may have reverted to default values or zeroes.
- Added Air Classifier (Altun) to Classifier unit model.
- Added Stirred Mill (Power, Heath) option to Mill unit model.
- Added ShowTrajectory option to Mill unit Tumbling Mill (Media Trajectory) option, shows/hides trajectory coordinates which can be extensive.
- Modified some Tumbling Mill (Media Trajectory) tag names for clarity and consistency.
- Modified Rod Mill (Lynch) Appearance tag names for clarity.
- Fixed display issue where d50c field showed zeroes in access window for Gravity Classifier Plitt-Flintoff method.
- Fixed issue where Mill (Herbst-Fuerstenau) Breakage arrays would default to zero values on project load instead of previously-saved values.
- Fixed issue where Tumbling Mill (Media Strings) configuration would reset to default on project load.
- Changes to Met Dynamics Models engine:
- Added option for ore/mineral/class specific Kd0 and Kalpha0 parameters to Hydrocyclone (Narasimha-Mainza) model.
- Simplified the Arbiter Ball Mill (Overfilling) limit tool by removing the axial velocity limit result.
- Fixes for AG/SAG Mill (Variable Rates) model:
- Ball load mass to equivalent charge volume conversion now correctly uses ore density instead of ball density.
- Corrected issue with P100 and internal mesh assumptions when calculating S20.
- Ball size interpolation to internal mesh now uses monotonic spline for improved precision and robustness.
- Breakage rate constant values may requite minor refitting to adjust for the above changes.
- Various minor numerical stability improvements.
- Examples:
- New Crushing and Grinding Example project added to SysCAD distributions from Build 36061.
Met Dynamics Models v2.0.2
- Released 27 May, 2024
- Changes to Met Dynamics Models Microsoft Excel Add-In:
- Added mass balancing tools to Excel, mdMassBal_TwoProductFormula, mdMassBal_ThreeProductFormula and mdMassBal_nProductFormula. Useful for reconciling/balancing measured data (assays, size distributions etc) across separating steps.
- Added option to Excel mdConvert_CumPassToRet() function to specify total quantity passing. Useful when the first cumulative passing value is less than the true total quantity.
- Added option to Excel mdInterp_CubicSpline() function to force spline monotonicity.
- Changes to Met Dynamics Models SysCAD Add-On:
- SysCAD Gravity Concentrator Jig (King) is now multistage. Each connected concentrate stream represents the product of a stage (compartment) in series.
- Added scale factor parameter to SysCAD Gravity Concentrator Bazin partition, allows arbitrary scaling of partition values. May be useful as a very simple approximation to product splitter/cutter position. Parameter is default hidden in Access window.
- Fix for SysCAD Metso screen model where Rf and Lambda parameters were inadvertently ignored.
- Fix for SysCAD Stream Summary pages where multiple feed streams were assigned the same tag name. A single, combined feed is now shown instead.
- Fix for SysCAD Dynamic mode Mill unit not showing all available power model options after switching Perfect Mixing Ball Mill model from dynamic to steady-state mode.
- Changed some SysCAD tag names and/or structures for Pivot and Stochastic models in Dense Medium Separator and Gravity Concentrator units.
- Changes to Met Dynamics Models engine:
- Added option to Perfect Mixing Stirred Mill steady-state and dynamic models allowing user-defined values of breakage rate scaling relationship exponents. Useful for aligning with test work or operating data.
- Removed option from AG/SAG Mill (Variable Rates) model in Excel and SysCAD which allowed user to specify spline knot positions (incompatible with Variable Rates model formulation).
- Fix for Pump model where flow calculation mode incorrectly returned zero flow rates.
- Fixes for Air Classifier (Altun) model:
- Corrected error where overflow and underflow mass flow rates by size may have been switched.
- Adjusted signs in model equations to require only positive values of input coefficients, exponents and constants.
- No longer required to provide ore SG/density as input, not used by the current model formulation.
- Various minor numerical stability improvements.
