The {{{1}}} mill model is formulated internally with a geometric progression of 31 mesh sizes at ${\sqrt {2}}$ intervals. Feed and product size fractions are automatically converted to and from the internal mesh series during model computation. The ${\sqrt {2}}$ size intervals allow the appearance function to be specified as a one-dimensional matrix, rather than the two dimensional form defined above, since

$A_{ij}=A_{i-j}$

when the intervals are so spaced.
